PLANET

At Echotex, we are deeply committed to reducing our environmental impact and fostering a sustainable future. Our journey towards sustainability is driven by a clear focus on energy, water, and waste, alongside a strong commitment to ethical practices.

We are proud to have achieved LEED Platinum certification, the highest level of recognition for sustainable building practices. This certification reflects our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing operational efficiency through sustainable design and construction.

In addition to our building practices, we continue implementing innovative technologies and strategies to lower energy consumption, optimise water use, and minimise waste. By adopting renewable energy, improving water stewardship, and refining waste management, we strive to make measurable progress toward our long-term sustainability goals.

Explore the sections below to learn more about how we address climate action, water conservation, waste reduction, and our dedication to science-based targets.

Water stewardship

This year, Echotex has achieved Zero Liquid Discharge, the highest standard in industrial water recycling, where all wastewater is treated and recycled, resulting in no liquid effluent being discharged into the environment.

Efficient Machinery

All sewing machines are equipped with energy-efficient servo motors and servo drives. These components reduce electric consumption and subsequently reduce CO2 emissions.

Renewable Energy

Echotex has already installed an on-grid solar plant pilot project with 1200 kWh in June 2023 and plans to install a 1500 kWh solar plant by 2026 to generate electricity,

waste Management

Industrial waste, such as metal scrap, plastics, and other materials, is recycled through responsible vendors.

Energy

At Echotex, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through various energy-saving initiatives. Our focus on energy efficiency and using renewable energy is integral to our sustainability goals, helping us build a cleaner, more efficient future.

Our Energy Initiatives

We are constantly innovating to improve our energy efficiency across all operations. Some of our key initiatives include:

  • Solar Power:
We’ve installed a 1,200 kWh solar power system on our rooftops to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources. This system helps us harness the sun's power, lowering carbon emissions and energy costs. Plans are in place to expand the solar capacity to 1,500 kWh by 2026.

  • Energy-Efficient Machinery:
We’ve upgraded to high-efficiency machinery, including air compressors, turbo blowers, and exhaust gas boilers, to reduce energy consumption. These changes reduce energy use and contribute to a cleaner production process by minimising emissions.

  • Heat Recovery Systems:
We’ve implemented waste heat recovery systems that capture and reuse excess heat from production processes. This has allowed us to cut energy consumption by up to 20%, making our operations more sustainable and cost-effective.

  • LED Lighting and Servo Motors:
Our commitment to energy efficiency extends to lighting and motor systems. We've significantly reduced electricity consumption across our facilities by replacing conventional lighting with LEDs and upgrading to servo motors.

  • Energy-Efficient Cooling:
We’ve also installed energy-efficient air conditioning systems, which help us maintain comfortable working conditions while consuming less energy.

Looking Ahead

Echotex is committed to a Net Zero energy future, with a clear strategy for achieving 42% carbon reduction by 2030 and Net Zero energy by 2040. A detailed roadmap outlining our energy goals and the key initiatives to achieve these milestones can be found in our downloadable Sustainability Report, available on our homepage.

WATER

At Echotex, we are dedicated to responsible water stewardship. We focus on reducing our environmental impact while ensuring sustainable water use in all of our operations. In a water-stressed region like Bangladesh, we understand the importance of water conservation and have implemented several cutting-edge initiatives to address this challenge.

Our Water Initiatives

Echotex has pioneered the implementation of a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system, ensuring all wastewater is treated and fully recycled. This initiative is crucial in reducing the strain on local water resources, and it's a testament to our commitment to water conservation. We are proud to highlight several key water-saving practices:

  • 96% Wastewater Recycling:
Our ZLD system recycles 96% of wastewater back into the production process, meaning no liquid effluent is discharged into the environment. This system also allows water and salt recovery, significantly reducing operational costs and preventing contamination of local water bodies.

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) System:
After treatment in our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), water goes through a 6-stage Reverse Osmosis system, purifying 96% of treated water. This purified water is then reused in production, further reducing our dependency on external water sources and protecting groundwater resources.

  • Water-Efficient Dyeing Technology:
Our fabric dyeing technology consumes four times less water than the average dyeing plant in Bangladesh, significantly reducing the industry's water footprint. This approach conserves water and ensures high-quality production standards.

  • Rainwater Harvesting:
To supplement our water needs, we’ve installed a rainwater harvesting system on the roof of our facility. This system captures over 125,000 square feet of rainwater, helping us further reduce dependence on groundwater and improve water resilience during dry spells.

  • Sewage Treatment Plant (STP):
We have established a Sewage Treatment Plant with a Zero Liquid Discharge standard, ensuring that 96% of the water is also treated and reused in our production processes. This plant also helps us meet our commitment to environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.

Looking Ahead

Echotex continues to innovate and improve its water management practices. One of our exciting future initiatives is converting recycled water into safe drinking water for all our factory workers. By repurposing purified water from our treatment systems, we aim to ensure that everyone on-site has access to clean, sustainable hydration directly at the workplace.

A detailed roadmap and strategy outlining our water-related sustainability goals, including this initiative and our continued focus on water recycling and conservation, can be found in our downloadable Sustainability Report, available on our homepage.

WASTE

Minimising waste is a critical aspect of our sustainability efforts. In the textile industry, where waste generation can be significant, we are committed to reducing waste, promoting recycling, and ensuring responsible disposal practices across our operations.

Our Waste Initiatives

Several initiatives are in place to minimise waste and promote recycling:

  • Recycling Fabric Waste:
We’ve developed systems to recycle fabric waste—jhoot—which reduces textile waste that would otherwise end up in landfills. This is essential to our circular economy efforts within the production process.

  • Industrial Waste Recycling:
Industrial waste, such as metal scrap, plastics, and other materials, is recycled through responsible vendors. These efforts ensure that waste materials are processed and reused in an environmentally responsible way.

  • Effluent Treatment and Sludge Management:
Our Zero Liquid Discharge system treats 96% of our wastewater. The sludge generated during this process is either repurposed for use in the cement industry or converted into organic fertiliser, reducing waste and contributing to sustainability.
